1991 Talon update: Giant Intercooler!
Thursday, February 22, 2007
Below is my solution to global warming. Yes, as a matter of fact that is a 28" x 10.5" Garrett intercooler. It should do the trick.

Here is the install somewhere between a bloody finger and 10 consecutive f-bombs

More to come!

I definitely considered it, but couldn't justify it for a few reasons. Mainly cost, weight gain, safety and I couldn't bring myself to cut into my Mirage. The Talon is a nice, comfortable car that now has a big ole fat powerband to match!

Hey, Tom! :)
Great work on the cars!
I'm from the Philippines and we have lots of the 4 door Mirages (lancers here) on the road. After seeing your Mirage cars, I was motivated to put one together too. However, our models were limited to the 1300cc and 1500cc engines. No 1600cc turbo engines came out here.
I've had a similar experience with an earlier version. In 1986, I shoehorned a 4G32 Saturn engine into my 2dr 82 Mirage (Champ there)with the P/E shiftbox. The whole thing just fit in and matched the stock transmission. I had fun with that car until I sold it in 1990.
The problem here is that parts are not as plentiful as there and a number of shop guys keep saying that the stock transmission of the Mirage (similar to yours) is weak and may not handle the 4G63T.
Would you happen to have any documentation about the strength of the Mitsubishi transmissions?
Thanks and more power!
